All About Me
I'm Mr. Lee Carter, and I teach IB Biology I and II, AP Environmental Science, IB Sports, Exercise & Health Science, Strength & Conditioning, and whatever else Mrs. Ramsey throws at me here at Galileo Magnet High School.
I firmly believe science is best learned by asking questions, getting your hands dirty, and occasionally wondering, "Wait... are we allowed to do this?" (the answer is usually no but sometimes we do it anyway). If you ever hear me say, "I have an idea", there's about a 50% chance we're about to do something educational... and a 50% chance we're about to make the admin question my employment. I like those odds.
When I'm not at school, I'm probably restoring my 1880 Victorian home, working on one of my real estate projects, planning an over-the-top Halloween event, making delicious "beverages", or trying to convince myself that buying one more project house is a great financial decision.
My classroom is built on curiosity, respect, and a healthy dose of humor and sarcasm. Ask questions, work hard, don't be afraid to make mistakes, and we'll have a pretty good year.
I do occasionally like to brag, but it's definitely not frequently... such as being first student in Galileo history (yes, I went here) to score a 600 on the biology SOL. Oh, and the second ever 600 was also one of my biology students my second year teaching, so that's pretty cool, too. There may be some infrequent trash-talk when it comes to all the cross country, track and field, and PowderPuff championships I've been involved with on the coaching side, but I'm retired now...
